Concerning Violence + Q&A
Hyde Park Picture House
18 June, 20.10
Based on Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth, Concerning Violence documents 20th century struggles against colonialism, as well as engaging the question of what a politics and aesthetics of resistance might look like today. Narrated by Lauryn Hill and drawing together newly-discovered archival material from the 60s and 70s, this film forcefully explores the changing nature of violence and oppression.
The film is followed by a Skype Q&A with director Göran Olsson, offering the chance to engage critically with his work, his reference to Fanon and the ethics of representation.
